Visits to the Shelter

In the past, due to our provisory facilities, visits to the Shelter were conditioned. These days, benefiting from new facilities, the Donkey Shelter is now open to visitors, who wish to meet and to support the project.

Visits are subject to previous booking, at least two days in advance, made by email or mobile call (please check the Contacts section).

Public visitors:

Visits comprise an introductory explanation about the donkey, its preservation and awareness of the ill-treatment that unfortunately, many animals still suffer.

Follows a visit to the facilities, were the donkeys can be met and each animal’s case will be told.

At the end of the visit, visitors may purchase some of our goods and products, made by local craftspeople, or sponsoring one of the Shelter’s donkeys, as forms of support, helping the Association in its mission to rescue and to rehabilitate these animals.

Special Group Visits

The Shelter is also open to school groups or any other kind who may be interested in the preservation of an under threat species.

As far as schools or children’s groups are concerned, these visits will have an educational input, as children will have a more interactive contact with the donkeys, learning about their features and their care, taking part in chores like feeding and grooming.

In the case of special groups (like clubs or organisations), visits will be theme based and specific, including other complementary trips to local places of interest and lunch at local restaurants.

Booking conditions will always have to be previously arranged.
